Guidelines for Supplying Component Kits

Evertech supports flexible PCB assembly workflows. You may supply a full component kit, a partial kit, or allow us to source selected components. When providing your own components, please follow the guidelines and attrition requirements below to ensure an efficient and delay-free build. For turnkey sourcing, see our PCB manufacturing services.

Evertech Component Consignment

1. Kit Preparation Requirements

1.1 Labeling and Organization
  • Each bag, tray, reel, tube, or carrier must be clearly labeled with the part number used on your BOM.
  • Each assembly order requires its own kit. Multiple kits may be shipped together if they are physically separated and clearly marked.
1.2 Packaging and Handling
  • We accept cut tape (any length), reels, tubes, trays, and properly packaged components.
  • Protect components from moisture, ESD, and mechanical damage. Use sealed moisture-barrier bags and antistatic packaging where appropriate.
  • Loose or bulk SMT components are strongly discouraged. They require special handling similar to thru-hole placements and may incur additional fees. In some cases, we may need to re-package them into trays or carriers to ensure machine compatibility.
1.3 Polarity and Orientation
  • Components with orientation requirements must include visible polarity or pin-1 markings. If markings are unclear, include an assembly drawing or photograph indicating orientation.
1.4 Shipping
  • Provide tracking numbers for all shipments of consigned materials. This ensures accurate scheduling of your assembly job.

2. Evertech Attrition Standards

(Required Additional Components for Consigned Builds)

Assembly equipment requires extra parts for feeder setup, calibration, and to account for normal handling losses. Evertech cannot begin assembly until sufficient attrition quantities are on hand. Insufficient attrition may place your order on hold.

Policies differ slightly between prototype builds and production builds to match practical machine needs.

2.1 Prototype Builds

(<= 100 PCBs per order)
Prototypes involve more frequent feeder resets, more manual touchpoints, and greater process variability. To avoid delays, please supply the following minimum overages:

SMT Passive Components

Package SizeRequired OverageExample
0603, 0805Required quantity + 20 extra partsIf 40 needed → provide 60
0402Required quantity + 50 extra partsIf 20 needed → provide 70
0201Required quantity + 50 extra partsIf 60 needed → provide 110

Thru-hole and Mechanical Parts

  • Provide required quantity +5 extra parts for each line item.

All Other Package Sizes & Specialized Devices

  • Required quantity + 5% extra.

Note: If a component uses a small SMT package size that is comparable to those listed in the SMT Passive Component categories (such as 0201, 0402, 0603, or 0805), please follow the overage requirements specified for that package size rather than the general guidance above. Small-format components behave similarly during automated placement, and adhering to the size-specific attrition rules helps prevent setup delays and feeder shortages.

2.2 Production Builds

(> 100 PCBs per order)
Production-level assembly allows attrition to scale with run size. Provide the following:

SMT Passive Components

Package SizeRequired OverageExample
0603, 0805Required quantity + 10% extraIf 2,000 needed → provide 2,200
0402Required quantity + 25% extraIf 500 needed → provide 625
0201Required quantity + 50% extraIf 2,000 needed → provide 3,000

Thru-hole and Mechanical Parts

  • Provide required quantity +2 extra parts.

3. Return of Unused Components

Any unused customer-supplied components remaining after assembly will be returned with your completed boards.
